South Carolina Lighting Upgrade Incentives for Multifamily Properties

Dominion Energy offers lighting incentives through its Lighting Program, providing rebates for businesses upgrading to energy-efficient lighting. Property owners can receive $0.35 per watt reduced for fixture replacements or upgrades, with a cap at 50% of the total project cost. For new construction, the rebate increases to $0.40 per watt reduced. To apply, property owners must submit an application for pre-approval and provide proof of purchase and installation to receive the rebate.

Santee Cooper's Certified Retrofit Lighting Program provides rebates for businesses installing ENERGY STAR® or DesignLights Consortium certified retrofit lighting. The rebate amount is $0.40 per watt reduced. Projects require pre-approval, and after installation, owners must submit documentation to receive the rebate.

Duke Energy’s Smart $aver® Lighting Incentives offers rebates for businesses upgrading to efficient lighting. The rebate amount varies depending on the equipment and energy savings achieved. Property owners can submit an application through Duke Energy’s portal to apply for rebates, with customer service available for assistance.

South Carolina Energy Office’s Home Energy Rebate Programs offer rebates for energy efficiency upgrades, including lighting, through the HOMES Efficiency and HEAR Electrification programs. While these programs are not yet available, they will provide rebates for multifamily buildings, with up to $400,000 available for energy efficiency projects and up to $14,000 for electrification and appliance upgrades once they launch in 2025.
