Rhode Island EV Charging Incentives for Multifamily Properties

PowerUpRI Residential Program

The Rhode Island (RI) Office of Energy Resources launched the PowerUpRI rebate program to encourage RI homeowners and landlords of one up to four units to install EV charging stations in their homes and residential properties. The PowerUpRI rebate program offers financial incentives for eligible Level 2 EV chargers as well as any necessary electrical upgrades. There is a limit of one rebate per property – both for individual and landlord program installations. Rebates range from up to $350 to up to $700, or 50% (whichever is less) of the purchase price of a Level 2 residential EV Charger depending on if an electrical upgrade is needed during installation. Income qualified applicants may be eligible for additional funding.

Rhode Island Lighting Upgrade Incentives for Multifamily Properties

  • Rhode Island Energy partners with participating distributors to offer instant incentives on qualifying LED lighting products at the time of purchase for commercial and industrial businesses. These incentives allow businesses to install high-quality LED lighting at a discounted price without the need for rebate forms. To participate, businesses must find a participating distributor, choose qualified lighting products, and ensure the products are installed within 30 days of purchase. The program aims to help businesses reduce lighting-related energy costs by up to 90% and save on maintenance costs, as LEDs last up to 25 times longer than conventional products.

  • Rhode Island Energy offers various energy efficiency programs for businesses, including discounted pricing on energy-efficient LED products and controls. These programs allow businesses to install high-quality LED lighting at a discounted price without the need for rebate forms. Additionally, the programs offer incentives for energy-saving measures such as HVAC systems, heat pumps, variable refrigerant flow systems, and energy recovery ventilators.
