New Mexico EV Charging Incentives for Multifamily Properties

  • El Paso Electric (EPE) offers rebate funding for commercial customers installing qualifying EV charging infrastructure through their PowerConnect NM Program. This program helps reduce upfront costs of upgrades or improvements on EPE's distribution system up to the utility meter. For Workplace, Public and Public-DCFC projects, the rebate amounts are designed to cover 50% of upgrade costs or improvements to EPE’s distribution system up to the utility meter and 70% of the costs for projects located in underserved communities. For schools, public transit, fleets and multi-unit Dwelling Projects the rebates may cover 100% of the project costs. Level 2 and DCFC are both eligible through this program and funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

New Mexico Lighting Upgrade Incentives for Multifamily Properties

  • Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) offers a Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program that provides incentives for both in-unit and common area upgrades in multifamily properties. For common areas such as building exteriors, parking lots, and garages, the program offers rebates for installing LED lighting and controls. These upgrades aim to reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills. Property owners can participate by contacting an authorized contractor or applying online.

  • PNM's Retrofit Rebate Program offers prescriptive and custom incentives to business customers, including multifamily property owners, for installing energy-efficient equipment in existing facilities. Eligible lighting upgrades include LED lamps and fixtures for both interior and exterior applications, occupancy sensors, and daylighting controls. These measures help improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.

  • The New Mexico Gas Company provides a Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program managed by the International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology (ICAST). This program offers rebates for energy efficiency upgrades in multifamily properties with five or more units. While primarily focused on gas-saving measures, the program supports comprehensive energy assessments and may include lighting improvements as part of a broader energy efficiency strategy.
