New Jersey EV Charging Incentives for Multifamily Properties

  • JCP&L’s EV Driven Program is making electric vehicle adoption more accessible, convenient and affordable in New Jersey through incentives for charger installations at homes, workplaces, multifamily properties and communities. Receive incentives on the purchase and installation of a qualified EV charging station and earn additional credits for smart charging.

  • The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has $15 million in funding available for Level 2 charging infrastructure at multiunit dwellings in the state as part of their Multi Unit Dwelling (MUD) EV Chargers program. Awards include $4,000 towards the purchase of a dual-port, networked Level 2 charging station and $6,000 towards the purchase of a Level 2 charging station located in an Overburdened Municipality. For those in non-IOU territories, the Program also offers up to $5,000 towards the make-ready costs of installing L2 chargers.   • PSE&G offers commercial customers rebates for the behind the meter and the pole-to-meter installation of Level 2 and public direct current fast charging (DCFC) stations. Level 2 installations may be eligible up to $30,000 per site and DCFC installations may be eligible for up to $100,000 per site. Eligible entities include multi-family residences, government entities, businesses, and any location with public access.

  • Atlantic City Electric (ACE) is offering rebates up to 75% of electrical upgrade costs per Level 2 charging port – for a maximum of 10 charging ports dependent on location. Properties located in overburdened communities may be eligible for rebates up to 100% of the electrical upgrade costs. ACE customers installing public DC Fast Chargers, may be eligible for a rebate of up to 90% of electrical upgrade costs - for a maximum of $60,000 per charging port.

  • Orange & Rockland Utilities in New Jersey is offering commercial customers incentives for both utility and customer side improvements needed to install EV charging at their location. Customers may qualify for Level 2 make ready incentives, or apply to the waitlist for DC fast charging installations. Make-Ready incentives may cover up to 90% of the total cost leading up to the charger, and may be applied for work performed for commercial and/or multi-family installations. Funding is limited and applications are accepted through May 2026.

New Jersey Lighting Upgrade Incentives for Multifamily Properties

  • JCP&L's program offers energy efficiency services to existing multifamily properties with three or more units. Services include a no-cost energy assessment, installation of standard energy-saving measures like ENERGY STAR® certified products and LEDs, and recommendations for larger upgrades such as lighting improvements in common areas. Eligible projects may receive rebates of up to $1,000 on qualified equipment and 0% financing options.

  • NJCEP offers incentives for energy-efficient equipment installations in multifamily buildings with five or more dwelling units under a single ownership or management entity. The program provides three pathways tailored to the project's scope, rewarding comprehensive energy-saving approaches while also accommodating simpler, prescriptive upgrades. Both existing buildings and new construction projects are eligible. Property owners can begin the application process by visiting the NJCEP website.

  • NJNG provides two programs catering to different multifamily property types. For residential multifamily buildings (three stories or less), the program offers a whole-building energy audit followed by energy-saving measures. Commercial multifamily buildings (four stories or more) can receive incentives for upgrading specific energy-consuming equipment. Eligible customers receive rebates and incentives for energy efficiency improvements.

  • Atlantic City Electric's program provides energy-efficient upgrades to common areas in multifamily properties, such as lighting and chillers, on commercial metered properties. Additionally, the program offers direct install measures in units, including ENERGY STAR certified LED bulbs and water-saving measures, at no additional cost. Deeper retrofits like insulation and air sealing measures are also incentivized

  • The P4P Program is designed for multifamily buildings aiming for comprehensive energy efficiency improvements. To participate, projects must achieve a minimum of 15% annual source energy savings. While lighting measures can contribute to energy savings, they should not exceed 50% of the total unless accompanied by other significant upgrades like heating, cooling, ventilation, and building envelope improvements. Incentives are based on the level of energy savings achieved.
